We broadly support the criteria which are set out. However, it is critical that the eventual policy is robustly worded to prevent such proposals harming the Cheshire countryside. We also note the policy does not currently address the wider impacts of the use of the oil and gas which is extracted on net zero ambitions. It has been established in recent case law that proposals which require a formal Environmental Impact Assessment must address these wider impacts (see https://friendsoftheearth.uk/climate/supreme-court-judgment-horse-hill-oil).
