The town centre regeneration should consider the types of shops coming into the town, not just focussing on low cost food shops! If you want to attract people with disposable income to the town, you need to provide them with places to shop and socialise. Restaurants and farm shops/ independent shops will encourage people to come to the town and spend more money here. Better transport links would also help - is there a way to make links to Manchester via train better? Currently this is challenging however many people work in cities and would perhaps look to winsford as a place to live if they could commute.

Revisiting the Winsford Development Framework would be a good starting point as all the key infrastucture issues that require improvement are already noted there and, ten years after its publication, have still not been implemented.

I would like to express my concern that we were informed of these plans only via the Winsford Community Forum on Facebook. With earlier notice, I am confident that many more residents would have been able to attend the consultation. Could I request that a new consultation be arranged and publicised in a timely and accessible manner so that the people of Winsford have the opportunity to ask questions directly? While I fully support the idea that Winsford should grow, I believe several critical issues must be addressed before further expansion: 1.  Healthcare: At present, it is extremely difficult to secure a GP, dentist, or hospital appointment. What measures are being taken to address this? Are there plans for a new hospital or local infirmary, similar to what Northwich has 2.  Infrastructure: Our current road network is already under strain. What new roads or transport improvements are planned to manage the inevitable increase in traffic? 3.  Education: Winsford Academy is already oversubscribed. Will a new high school be built? Nearby towns are not able to accommodate additional pupils, and expecting parents to pay for out-of-town transport is not a sustainable solution. 4.  Town Centre & Leisure Facilities: The leisure centre is outdated and in need of expansion. Knights Grange sports complex has closed, are there plans to reopen the golf course and revitalise the facilities to serve a growing population? Will there be investment in developing the marina and WhiteGate Way for community use? 5.  General Maintenance: Winsford’s appearance and upkeep need attention. Grass verges are overgrown, pathways are obstructed, and trees and bushes are poorly maintained. These basic issues should be resolved before introducing more housing. To reiterate: I welcome the idea of Winsford becoming a larger, more vibrant town. However, significant improvements to infrastructure, public services, and maintenance are essential to make that growth sustainable and widely supported.

Infrastructure provision is paramount to achieve these objectives. Site 1 benefits from planned highway access as part of its outline application. Site 2, while capable of residential development, will require future-proofed access arrangements and enhanced connectivity to ensure safe and sustainable travel, particularly given its residential role.

While the site is well located and benefits from access to the existing local road network and community infrastructure, further enhancements may be needed to ensure safe and sustainable travel options, including pedestrian and cycle connections into Winsford. The Local Plan should ensure that infrastructure delivery keeps pace with housing growth. Over St Chad’s, given its scale and location, represents an opportunity to deliver high-quality housing without placing undue pressure on local infrastructure. Its integration with existing transport corridors makes it well placed for early delivery with proportionate infrastructure investment.

The proposed scale of development will require increased capacity Schools, land allocation for this should be carefully considered. For example to the south of Winsford it may be better to build a new school and sell of land currently occupied by Darnhall Primary School. This is a split site school which is inefficient to manage with victorian and 1970s buildings on a constrained site with poor access. Woodford lodge School was in the right place but lack of foresight and planning led to some decisions that have proved very damaging for Winsford. there is an opportunity here to do some good town planning and get what we need in the right place before we allow incramental development that doesnt allow proper infrastructure to be provided for communities.

Winsford needs significant infrastructure work for any further housing development to keep people and businesses flowing. Many roads and narrow and congested seriously affecting commuting and HGV traffic. Another bridge crossing aswell as the A54 is imperative.

Relevant infrastructure requirements in relation to the proposed allocation of Clive Hall Farm are being considered as part of outline planning application 25/01216/OUT on the site for 115 dwellings. Nonetheless, the site would not require any strategic policy interventions in relation to infrastructure to enable development to come forward.
